Friend of Graza: Jess Sims
Educator, ESPN host, and everyone's favorite Peloton instructor Jess Sims on her go-to donut order, screen name suggestions for a Picual olive, and why she doesn't believe in a "No Days Off" mentality.
Q: How do you describe yourself?
J: Passionate, loving, hard-working, charismatic
Q: Finish this sentence: Cooking for me is __________
J: THERAPEUTIC
Q: What's your current favorite grocery store find or obsession?
J: Mini sweet peppers - so delish and crunchy straight out of the bag!
Q: What's your go-to pre or post workout snack?
J: I love eggs with avocado with a slice of sourdough bread (before or after). If it’s close to workout time (90min to an hour) I’ll do a banana with some almonds and cashews!
Q: What’s one piece of advice or a practice you see in the health and wellness world you think is overrated, overly aspirational, unhelpful, or is otherwise just not the vibe?
J: “No days off” - everyone needs a day off. Mentally, emotionally and physically. It’s also not sustainable. What are your all-around life mottos, mantras, philosophies? Life is about the little things - they add up to make a HUGE difference!
Taking massive action is easy and can change your life. But taking small, repetitive action is much harder but can TRANSFORM your life. I also believe that when we shift our perspective from “I have to” to “I get to,” a window of new possibilities opens.
Q: You coined the phrase "the glazed donut look." Do you go for a glazed in the donut shop, or if not, what's your favorite?
J: Always! I love a classic glazed and then I also like trying out a fun new flavor that I haven’t had before!
Q: You built a community as a beloved instructor for Peloton starting back in 2018, and now report for the New York Liberty, ESPN College Gameday, and contribute to Good Morning America. What has been the most rewarding part of your journey?
J: The people, 100% - in all my jobs I get to work with and interact with so many people from so many diverse backgrounds. I love hearing and sharing their stories as well as celebrating their successes!
Q: If you were a Picual olive like the ones in Drizzle and Sizzle, what would your Peloton screen name be?
J: #ExtraVirginRunner #PicualPedaler #GrazaGainz
Q: What has been bringing you joy lately?
J: My pups :) Sienna Grace and Shiloh…and taking the on hikes for some good fresh air.
Q: What's on the horizon for you!
J: Lots of exciting stuff coming up with some new brand partnerships as well as my next show on ESPN!
