Graza Team's Holiday Traditions
The Graza Team shares their favorite holiday traditions from Christmas Eve Taco Bell and Harry Potter rewatches, to classic hot cocoas and green corn tamales!
Cassandra, Sales: Spending the chilly, crisp evenings by the fire in my parent’s backyard overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains - with a large pour of red wine!
Stella, Marketing: Spending Christmas Eve at my uncle's, my grandpa always brings different funny holiday-themed hats or glasses for everyone and we take a big family photo!
Linnea, Marketing: Staying in pajamas all day on Christmas and watching classics like It's a Wonderful Life and Meet Me in St Louis. Then we drive around and look at Christmas lights.
Sophie, Marketing: We always make cinnamon rolls for breakfast. We are going to try this recipe this year!!
Casey, Creative: Movie night on Christmas eve, Polar Express is a family favorite. Pairs excellently with tons of cookies and milk!
Cass, Creative: This is a new one but now that my niece can read she helps all her younger cousins write a note to Santa. We also like to drive around the cul-de-sacs where my husband grew up to look at the Christmas lights!
Talia, Marketing: Walking around the lake with my family followed by making white chocolate drizzled popcorn and losing in dreidel to my siblings!
Gabby, Social: We make a pancake breakfast on Christmas morning and eat together in our pajamas.
Benny, Finance: My favorite holiday tradition is the Hannukah grab bag with the entire extended family, I have like 25 first cousins so it takes over 3 hours and there is always an argument about whether the person who went first can steal at the end.
Allen, Co-Founder: Not sure if this counts as a tradition, but I almost always cut my hand while grating potatoes to make latkes and then have to go buy some at Russ & Daughters.
Cecilia, Creative: We do the Italian American classic, Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve! Then keep it chill on Christmas Day and go to the movies.
Michael, Accounting: Every year I end up rewatching the Harry Potter movies around the holidays. I also have a Harry Potter Christmas sweater that I break out just for this. By the time I’m a few movies in I’m half convinced I should be sending letters by owl and checking the corridors for moving staircases.
Will, Category: My family will watch Christmas Vacation and have Taco Bell on Christmas Eve every year... It stems from the fact that my dad's Grandma was a horrible cook, so my dad, his brother, and my grandpa would get Taco bell (or the equivalent) before going to her house every year because the food was inedible.
Lindsay, Sales: Every Christmas morning, we’d head to my grandparents’ house where my grandpa would blend up Ice Cream Brandy Alexanders for the adults and ice cream milkshakes for us kids — always finished with a sprinkle of nutmeg. He passed away in 2018, but we’ve kept his tradition alive. It’s deliciously nostalgic, and every milkshake mustache on my kids reminds me of him.
Paige, Sales: Growing up, we always decorated the Christmas tree while listening to the Charlie Brown Christmas album. My parents would make hot chocolate with marshmallows and a candy cane hanging over the rim of the cup — it always felt like pure magic. Now my husband, daughter, and I carry on that tradition when we decorate our tree, and it’s one of my favorite Christmas moments
Maddie, Supply Chain: My little brother is an incredible chef and has made his mushroom ragu every Christmas dinner for the past few years. We also always watch a Wes Anderson movie every Christmas night.
Alexis, Commercial: It's not Christmas Eve without tamales - a holiday staple in Arizona. We don't make them from scratch anymore, but get a variety from local shops in the valley. Green corn is my favorite, it's basically a dessert!
Dylan, Logistics: Every December my family and I get together in NYC for shopping and merriment. We cap it off with a feast either at Jongro KBBQ or Carmines for family style Italian. On Christmas Eve, we do a variation of seven fishes; seafood salad, crab legs, lobster, etc. Food is always important to our traditions!
