Friend of Graza: Quinn XCII
Q: How do you describe yourself?
Q: I describe myself as a foodie who loves music, who loves being a dad, who loves being a husband, who loves walking around with his shoes off.
Q: Finish this sentence, cooking for me is...
Q: Therapeutic. It's very relaxing for me and clears my head.
Q: What's your never-fail recipe to make at home?
Q: My mom's famous baked beans. She sends me the recipe year after year and I mess it up every-time. I don't make it as good as hers, but even when I do mess it up, it's that good of a recipe that it still tastes amazing.
Q: 3-5 songs for the perfect cooking playlist?
Q: Here In My Arms by Leon Bridges,
I'd Rather Go Blind by Etta James,
Stay by Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs,
I Got the Blues by Dion & the Belmonts, and
All of these songs are a mix of Motown music, which is the music I grew up on. A mix of soulful, easygoing light-hearted music that gets you into a vibe.
Q: Best thing to eat after a recording session?
Q: For me it's definitely mediterranean food, that's probably my favorite cuisine. There's a place in LA I go to and order from frequently. For me, after a recording session there's nothing I want more.
Q: Best thing to eat after a concert?
Q: I would probably say pizza. Pizza after a show hits very different, it's exactly what every artist craves. It's the best.
Q: Cooking hack more people should know?
Q: I actually learned, when you make scrambled eggs, keep them on a high burner initially for maybe 10-20 seconds and then immediately take them off and let them sit. Move the eggs around with a spatula and let them do their thing. I feel like I burnt my scrambled eggs time after time, so I discovered if you just let them cool on their own, they form into a perfect runny consistency.
Q: If you could write a song or album about one particular food what ingredient would it be (we love your song about coffee)?
Q: Mustard. Mustard is by far my favorite condiment. Genuinely my favorite food, I put it on almost everything. I don't know what I would do without it. I am shocked I haven't written one song about mustard yet.
Q: Do you gravitate more towards sizzling or drizzling?
Q: I actually use Sizzle more than I use Drizzle. I think I use Sizzle every time I cook, I love the size of the bottle. It's delicious and is a clean, healthy way to go about cooking. It makes my food taste incredible. I use it on the pan for my scrambled eggs.
Q: What's on the horizon for you?
Q: This year I am releasing 3 EPs called Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Next month Lunch will be released and then Dinner will be coming out later this year. I'll also be going out on tour this Fall for my “All You Can Eat Tour” from September 20th to October 29th. I'll be hitting a majority of cities I haven't toured in before, so I couldn't be more excited to begin the run. Tickets available here!
