Grilling Hacks with Weber
@grillin_with_dad walks us through his top grilling hacks (spoiler they include Sizzle + Drizzle) and how to make the perfect seared steak.
Summer grilling season is here and it's time to fire up those grills! There's honestly nothing better than hanging around the grill with your friends and family and cooking something delicious. But it can be intimidating, especially when grilling with charcoal. But fear not! We're here to save the day and share our top 5, or maybe 6, grilling hacks and tricks to make the perfect steak at home.
Fire Up The Grill
First things first, let's fire up the grill. There's different methods from starter fluid to blow torches to starter cubes. But the best and all natural way is with olive oil. Simply drizzle a few tablespoons of Sizzle on a paper towel, light it and stick it under the coals. The oil will slow down the burning process and give the coals plenty of time to ignite. And no chemicals to worry about!
Sizzle Seasoning
Now it's time to prep the steaks. To keep cleanup to a minimum and not have to clean too many dishes, prep and season the steaks using the store providing packaging. Add a layer of Sizzle to both sides of steaks and season generously with your favorite steak seasoning. We used Grilling with Dad's Steak Seasoning. The olive oil will help the seasoning stick to meat AND will help create the most amazing crust when the steak hits the grill. Allow the steak to come up to room temperature while the charcoal is preheating.
Dual Zone is Key
After the coals are lit, spread them on one half side of the grill. This creates a dual zone cooking setup and allows for a hot side and a cool side of the grill. Start the steaks on the hot side of the grill to create that beautiful crust and sear and move them over to the cooler side to finish cooking. This way you get that delicious charcoal sear without having to worry about burning the steaks.
No Sticking Here
Before you put the steaks on the grill, add a little Sizzle to a paper towel and rub it across the grill grates. This will help prevent the steak from sticking to the grill.
Ideal Crust Temps
It's time for the steak to hit the grill. Start on the hot side of the grill and flip the steaks every 1-2 minutes. This will help do 2 things. First, the steaks will cook evenly inside. And second, with each flip, the steak will start to develop that beautiful and delicious crust on the outside. Continue this process until the steak if cooked to your desired internal temperature.
Rest is Best
This next trick is probably the hardest. You have to let the steak rest for about 10 minutes before slicing it. This rest time will allow the juices to redistribute inside and will provide a much juicier final product.
Don't Forget to Salt
BONUS: After the steaks have rested, slice them and finish with Drizzle and a sprinkle of sea salt. This will give the steaks an extra boost of flavor.
