How to Season Your Grill with Frizzle
Frizzle + grilling = GRIZZLING!! The perfect char always starts with well-seasoned grill grates. And a well-seasoned grill starts with Frizzle!
Here’s a step-by-step guide to kick off your summer grilling, so you can fire it up and START EATING!!
Whether you're an expert grill-master or new to the BBQ lifestyle, a well-seasoned grill is the key to success!
Why Season Your Grill?
Similar to the science behind seasoning a cast iron pan with oil, seasoning a grill with oil creates a non-stick surface that allows charring without losing chunks of your meal on the grill. In addition to allowing for a better sear, seasoning your grill protects the grates from rust.
In short, seasoning is the secret to grilling greatness.
Why Season with Frizzle?
When you think olive oil, you may think of the marinade for some tasty BBQ wings or the finishing touch to a charred corn salad, but olive oil is actually quite versatile for kitchen equipment prep too! Frizzle is our high heat cooking oil made from 100% olives, and can handle some serious heat — plus it has all the benefits of olive oil, and a neutral (but-good) taste so it doesn’t get in the way of all your grillin’ flavors.
Step-by-Step Guide to Seasoning Your Grill
STEP ONE: Clean the Grates
Whether your grill is brand new or coming out of winter hibernation, you always gotta clean your station first! Clean the grates or flat top with warm, soapy water and then let it dry completely.
STEP TWO: Add the Frizzle
Using a Frizzle spray can (or coating a paper towel with some Frizzle squeeze), coat the grates or flat top thoroughly. Make sure the surface is completely coated with Frizz — your goal is a thin, even layer across the entire grilling surface. Make sure to wipe off any excess accumulated oil!
STEP THREE: Fire 'er up
Now it’s time to bring the heat! Turn the grill on to a medium-high heat (between 350-400ºF) and let the grill heat up until the oil starts to burn off and smoke (490ºF or higher).
STEP FOUR: Always re-apply
After each use, re-apply a light coat of Frizzle to the grates or flat top while they are still warm to prevent rust and maintain that non-stick surface.
STEP FIVE: Get grillin’!
Enjoy perfectly charred meats and veggies all summer long!!
